6 October 2024 Aurora
On 2 October active sunspot group AR3842 produce two X-flares, producing Earth-directed CMEs. These struck on 6 October, producing auroras in Colorado late that night and into the early morning.

Looking north at 05:42am. The high altitude red is produced by extremely rarified oxygen in the upper atmosphere, and is usually only seen during very energetic events- just the type required to extend an aurora as far south as Colorado. 15-second exposure, Canon 7D, ISO 2000, 14mm lens.
An animated sequence of 15-second frames spanning 45 minutes.
