Comet C/2017 T2 (PANSTARRS)

This comet reached perihelion on 4 May 2020, at about same distance from the Sun as Mars. Visually, it was a binocular object. It is a very long period comet, making its first visit to the inner Solar System from the Oort cloud. It has been traveling inwards for about 7 million years. However, its orbit has been perturbed by Jupiter such that it now has a period of only about 58,000 years.
